A Walk On Water is pleased to announce that our next surf event has officially been scheduled for Sep 28, 2013 at Hollister Ranch in Santa Barbara, CA. This will be our final surf therapy session of the summer and we expect to have our largest turnout yet!
Signups are currently being accepted here. Space is extremely limited for this event, so please sign up ASAP to reserve a spot for your family.
We are so thankful to the wonderful residents of Hollister Ranch for once again opening their gates to the AWOW family. Special thanks goes out to our biggest supporters, Dian Vanderhave and Josh Farberow.
All the AWOW family is incredibly excited and we can’t wait to see you all at the Ranch for what is sure to be our biggest and best event yet. Stoked!
Matt Noble and the rest of the amazing crew at Noble Fabrication have graciously named A Walk On Water as the primary benefactor of their open house fundraiser for The 11th Annual Ventura Nationals on Sunday, September 1st.
The Ventura Nationals have a proud history of preserving the custom car/motorcycle culture, as well as vintage and surf-related art and culture. Noble Fabrication was founded in 2004 and is known as one of the preeminent automobile fabricators and finishers in southern California.
AWOW is proud to be a part of such a monumental, culturally important event and we are eternally in debt to Noble Fab for their graciousness.
The 7th Annual Malibu Invitational took place last weekend at historic First Point to much fanfare. All proceeds from the event went to The Young and Brave foundation, whose goal is to “stand up and fight cancer for those who shouldn’t have to stand alone”.
AWOW’s very own Steven Lippman competed in the prestigious event, bringing home the third place trophy in a hotly contested final. We’re so proud that such a great surfer most enjoys taking our special needs athletes out to discover the stoke of surfing.
Congratulations Lippy from the entire AWOW family!
Event Recap: Surf Rodeo — Ventura, CA July 13-14
This past weekend was one for the books as the amazing people of Ventura, CA brought back their legendary Surf Rodeo event for the first time in 12 years. We at AWOW feel blessed to have been a part of the festivities and we’re thrilled the crowd so enthusiastically enjoyed watching our special athletes put on a show.
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Matt Noble, Vince Felix, JD Drury, and everyone else who paved the way for A Walk On Water to take part. We met so many awesome people over the weekend and can’t wait to see everyone again at our next surf event in August.
For a full slide show documenting the festivities, please visit our Facebook page.
As always, we reserve our deepest gratitude for the unbelievable families that make what we do possible. You are the reason we exist.
We would like to officially welcome all our new members to the AWOW family.

Our first official event of 2013 went down in epic style on Saturday, June 22nd at Bulito Beach in Hollister Ranch. Both the weather and the waves cooperated this time as we were blessed with crystal blue skies and soft, supple sets. All the families were able to enjoy an entire day at this sacred spot on the California coast. All told, we had by far our largest turnout yet for an AWOW Surf Event.
Everything went off without a hitch, thanks in large part to our amazing crew of volunteers, surf instructors, and supporting families (especially the Morgans!).
Special thanks is due to many, many people including:
Variety the Children’s Charity — Our events would not be possible without their financial support. Those awesome new Focus surfboards were purchased through a grant from them!
Focus SUP Hawaii — The aforementioned awesome boards were only available to us because of the huge discount they offered us. All our surf instructors remarked how much better these boards were than any others they’d ridden!
Caffe Vita — Thank goodness for Mason and his amazing iced coffees, which kept all the volunteers energized the whole day long!
Kai Fragrance — We are so thrilled to be aligned with this amazing organization who provided gift bags for all the moms in attendance!
KIND Healthy Snacks — Brian was kind enough to donate boxes and boxes of their delicious snack bars for all the participants to enjoy!
Once again, we must thank the Hollister Ranch Owners Association for opening their gates to us and allowing us unfettered access to some of the most magical coastal land in the world.
A thousand thanks to our volunteers and surf instructors for your tireless efforts and devotion to bettering the lives of others.
And finally, THANK YOU to all the families that came out; you are the true heroes and the inspiration for all that we do. You empower us to achieve greatness. You are now officially part of an even bigger family, one that will always be there for you — welcome to the AWOW family…
It is finally that time again, summer is right around the corner and A Walk On Water is proud to announce our first official event of 2013! We will be returning to where it all started, Hollister Ranch, for the first of four events there this year.
Signups are extremely limited, so be sure to sign up here ASAP. We will send out a confirmation email leading up to the event if your child will be participating. If you are unable to make it after signing up, please be sure to let us know ASAP so that we can fill the spot.
For those looking to make it an overnight or weekend adventure, we are in talks with the local hotel to offer discounted room rates - we’ll update this as soon as it’s finalized.
We at AWOW are all so excited for this event and the coming year, we hope you will all be able to join the AWOW family on this adventure!
Special thanks go out to Dian Dhave, Josh Farberow and everyone else at HR that make this event possible.
